New Volunteers

Our compassionate, dedicated volunteers are essential to our organization and its mission. It is of the utmost importance to our organization that volunteers are placed in an appropriate role and properly trained, while also enjoying a meaningful volunteer experience. Your first step to joining our amazing volunteer team is to fill out the application below. After filling out the application you should receive a response from one of our team members in 5-7 business days. If your application is accepted, you will receive Oklahoma Humane Society’s online orientation along with your next steps. We can’t wait for you to become one of the team!

Starting at the beginning of 2026, a $25 Volunteer Supply Fee will be introduced. This fee helps OK Humane provide every volunteer with the tools and materials they need to succeed.

Volunteer Supply Fee:

Volunteers serving at OK Humane facilities and events receive an official volunteer t-shirt, name badge, and onboarding materials so they can be easily identifiable to visitors, adopters, and staff while representing OK Humane.

To help cover the cost of these required materials, new volunteers contribute a one-time $25 Volunteer Supply Fee as part of the volunteer onboarding process.

This fee helps offset the cost of items required for volunteers serving in public-facing roles, including:

  • Official OK Humane volunteer t-shirt
  • Volunteer name badge
  • Orientation and onboarding materials

By asking volunteers to help cover these startup materials, we are able to keep more of our donor funding focused on what matters most: providing lifesaving care for animals. If the fee presents a financial hardship, please contact our volunteer team. We are happy to work with you.

Exemptions:

The following groups are exempt from the Volunteer Supply Fee:

  • School or corporate volunteer groups
  • Existing OK Humane volunteers
Individuals who were already registered as volunteers prior to the implementation of this policy are not required to pay the fee.
  • OK Humane foster families (foster role only)
Fosters are not required to pay the volunteer supply fee while participating in the foster program, as fostering takes place in the home and does not require the volunteer materials used at OK Humane facilities or events.

If a foster chooses to also sign up as an OK Humane volunteer serving at our adoption center, clinic, or events, the volunteer supply fee would apply as part of the volunteer onboarding process.

Age Requirements:
  • Volunteers must be 18 years old or older
  • Volunteers ages 16-17 may apply if they provide:
    • A referral letter from a teacher, coach, mentor, or employer
    • A volunteer waiver signed by a parent or guardian
Here’s How Your Contribution Helps:
  • Covers onboarding costs, so donations go directly to animal care
  •  Improves program quality and support for long-term volunteers
  • Ensures volunteers are equipped with proper materials

The small fee helps ensure our resources stay focused on what matters most: helping animals.

How to Pay:

Once you submit your volunteer application and are accepted, you will receive a sign-up for an in-person orientation. After you complete the in-person orientation, you will receive a payment link via email.
