The Oklahoma Humane Society focuses its mission on homeless animals at Oklahoma City Animal Welfare and other local shelters. We are currently only accepting personal pets from the public on an extremely limited basis. Rarely, we are able to assess animals for our programs from the public (mostly puppies and kittens under the age of 6 months). If we accept a pet into our program the fee is $50 per pet and/or $50 per litter. If you are looking to return a pet you previously adopted from us, please call our Adoption Center to schedule a return at (405) 286-1229 ext. 1 option 1. We do not charge a re-homing fee for pets being returned to our program.
Surrendering a beloved pet is never an easy decision but if you must part ways with your personal pet consider these suggestions:
- Know your resources – click here for a list of local support from free food banks to low-cost vet care
- Notify your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers – they may be able to help you find a new home for your pet.
- If you can keep your pet in your home consider using home-home.org or adoptapet.com, online communities that connect people who want to adopt a pet with people who need to find their pet a new home.
If you would like your pet to be considered for our program, please fill out the form below. If they are a candidate, we will email or call you to schedule our next available appointment. For more information, contact us at intake@okhumane.org.
